The WebPT crew came into the office this morning with a little extra spring in our step—not because we’re still on a Halloween sugar high (although if we’re being honest, we probably consumed a few too many fun-size Snickers bars)—but because this morning, WebPT officially announced some very exciting news: We’ve acquired WebOutcomes, an online outcomes tracking tool for physical and occupational therapists.

Why are we so giddy about outcomes? Well, healthcare is moving steadily toward a pay-for-performance model, which means that to compete in the healthcare market, rehab therapists have to be able to objectively demonstrate their strengths and effectiveness as healthcare providers. And that’s exactly what outcomes empower them to do. Furthermore, therapists and practice owners can use outcomes data to:

• Improve their marketing techniques
• Better assess clinic performance through benchmarking
• Equip themselves for more effective payer contract negotiations

These are all key ingredients to success in the private practice physical and occupational therapy space—which is why WebPT welcomed WebOutcomes to its family with open arms. Basically, WebOutcomes already has all of the features we feel are important in outcomes tracking software. Like I said before, we’re pretty stoked about this software, but the acquisition itself is only the beginning of WebPT’s outcomes adventure. Next stop: integration. The team at WebPT is currently digging into the WebOutcomes technology and learning it backwards and forwards. That way, we can provide exemplary support, further innovate the software, and develop the best integration possible.
